Results of the two Veterans Competitions

Published by Mike Turner

The two Vets competitions went really well this year with some great table tennis played, in a competitive but fun atmosphere.

The Younger Vets final was played between Chris Hall and Ian Cockcroft, after two competitive semi-finals involving Jason Pilling and Craig Milnes. The two KSB teammates battled it out with Chris winning a close and interesting match.

On the Tuesday night a good mix of players were involved in the Older Vets comp with everyone playing at least four matches in the Round Robins. The first semi-final was an all Whalley Kestrels affair between Alan Calow and Phil Mileham. This was a repeat of last year’s semi but this time Phil came out on top.

The other semi was between Frazer McEwan and Chris Freely and this was an amazing game of table tennis of the highest quality. The match swung one way then the other with Frazer edging it in the end. The final itself went to 5 games as Phil dug in and refused to give in, but in the end Frazer’s greater power won through. Another really enjoyable night.

Thanks to everyone who took part and for Adam, Ian & Fred’s help on the nights.
