Fred Holden Cup Semi Finals

The two Semi-finals of the Fred Holden Cup were played on Tuesday 21st March and resulted in two very competetive matches.

In the all HTTC battle the high-flying  First Division B team of Fraser Massey, Noah Marshall and Jake Tomlinson fought hard to catch up the 222 Handicap they had to give to the Third Division C team of Teddy Robinson, Sam Sheard and FiFi Nuane. After a close fought number of matches in which there were some great performances all round, the Third Division side won by 56 points, 561 - 505.

In the other Semi Hyndburners of the First Division took on the Premiership Whalley Eagles. The experienced Hyndburners team of Shamir Bose, Dan Chamberlain & Fred Wade had a 70 handicap advantage going into the match. The Eagles, represented by Colin Hooper, James Lee and Alan Calow, had quite some match on their hands to catch up. There were some really close games with Shamir in sparkling form. The final match of the night  was a cracker between Colin & Shamir - after the first two games it looked that Hyndburners might just snatch it but Colin rallied to win the final two games and gain a 12 point (399 - 387) victory for the Eagles. Some match.

Therefore the final will be between the youngsters of the Third Division's  HTTC C against the Premiership veterans from Whalley at the Hyndburn Table Tennis Centre. It promises to be a great match.
