The East Lancashire Table Tennis league is a month into its season and Brierfield find themselves in the unusual position of heading up the Premier Division, but that is due to having played a game more than most other teams. The only two teams with a100% record still intact are K Ward Plumbing and Ramsbottom ‘A’. They are likely to be contenders along with Clitheroe. Early strugglers looking for their first win are Rovers and The Lions

The First Division at this early stage has Ramsbottom ‘C’ on top, and that’s despite a first game shock defeat to newly promoted Best Centre Raptors. Ramsbottom have the squad though to maintain that position and I would tip them for promotion. Its Whalley Hawks though, currently in fourth place due to being a game behind who are the only unbeaten team in the division and will certainly challenge for the title. That they are the only unbeaten team shows how tight and competitive the division is. Two other good teams in the top four and likely to stay at the top end are KSB ‘A’ and Whalley Eagles.  The slow starters looking for their first wins are Mavericks and Hyndburn TTC ‘B’.

In Division Two the top team after 4 games and with 4 wins is Hyndburners who along with Past Masters ‘A’ remain the two unbeaten teams. Past Masters have played a game less and are looking favourites for the title this year. Rolling Doals and Ramsbottom ‘D’ are also going well and will hope to stay in contention. The only team looking for their first win are Whalley Kites.

In Division Three Brierfield ‘B’ already look too good for the rest and are setting an early pace to head straight back up to the higher division for next season. In second and third place having begun well are Doals Vikings and KSB ‘D’. There are a good number of new beginners who are playing for the first time in this division this year all of whom are competing well and enjoying this great sport of Table Tennis.  Table Tennis continues to be suitable as a new sport for anyone of any age, sex, disability or fitness.
