Dear all,

May I take this opportunity to welcome your team and your players to the East Lancs Table Tennis League for the coming season 2011-2012. In the handbook you should find all the relevant information needed to thoroughly enjoy the coming season.

At the time of going to press the four divisions will consist of 40 teams, 10 in each division. Please return all score cards to the fixtures secretary Mike Turner during the week that the matches are played, this gives us the chance to update the league and merit tables and pass them on to Martin Wyatt who will update the website and new recruit Neil Hepworth who will write the reports and send copies to the Accrington Observer, Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Rossendale Free Press, Burnley Express, Nelson Leader, Colne Times and the Clitheroe Advertiser. Teams that play from the Hyndburn Regional Centre can leave their cards in the wall safe.

Changes to the handicaps will again be made using the ranking system, and an updated set of handicaps will be released before the first preliminary round of the Fred Holden Cup takes place. If your team are intending playing someone without a handicap in the first preliminary round they must have played at least one league match this season. Please note that all handicap matches are still played up to 21, and the maximum start as last season is 18. Grant Sagers has agreed to take responsibility for updating handicaps for the coming season. Grant is also trying to place new players, so if you know anyone who wants to start playing and needs a team, please contact Grant.

The merit tables will work as last season, a victory 3v2 will count as 60% for the victor and 40% for the loser,3v1 would be 75% for the victor and 25% for the loser, 3v0 will count as 100% for the victor and 0% for the loser.

We have ordered three new table tennis tables, one new Sponeta table and two general training tables for the centre. Micky Moir who is the driving force behind the promotion of table tennis in this area will continue to promote the sport in the local schools and at the centre to bring more youngsters into the league. The lighting system will be fully repaired before the season starts on Monday September 26th 2011.

Finally can I wish everybody all the best for the coming season, if anyone wants to support their representative sides in the Lancashire and Cheshire league matches they will be most welcome. The presentation dinner will be held at Accrigton Golf Club on Saturday April 28th 2012.

If you need any help whatsoever during the season please contact your divisional representative or any member of the committee who will be only too happy to help.

Good Luck
